The Gatekeeper Cover v.2

A few weeks ago, I was thinking about this story, because I had figured that this would be an easier NaNo piece, since I only had the one world to really build, as opposed to many worlds for Earthia. In the middle of that pondering, the idea for a cover just…smacked me, so I had to draw it.

And then I went to Dragon*Con, and I managed to forget about this. But then I found it again, and since I just launched the site, I figured I’d go ahead and finish it up, because it’s actually I pretty neat piece. I love the fact that the pose I have her in is exactly like I pictured it. So nice when that happens.

It’s kind of hard to tell, but she’s supposed to be in a room in the palace, opening a portal to her own world to symbolize the fact the story takes place on two )Well, three, actually) plains of existence; our world, and the world Ithyia is in. But…it just looks like she’s in a paneled room. Aw well, worth a try.

She holding the Staff of Ithyia (another testament that I like stealing designs that ~callisto-chan’s done for my story, and keeping them forever), which is basically the ceremonial way she opens portals. All she really as to do, since she’s an untrained Gatekeeper, is touch the mirror, thinking of the place she wants to go, and it’ll open. This just makes it more…spectacular, or something. I don’t know, I just wanted to draw her with it.

Overall, I very nice piece, and its fun to look back on my old Gatekeeper/Finding Fate (which is what the story was called before) art. Because that’s seven years of art there. >.< And seeing how much Persephone has changed in those seven years.
