Psyche Comparison

Much like I had done with the Gatekeeper back before I started to write it for NaNo, I thought it would be sort of fun to do a comparison piece with my latest NaNo heroine. Of course, it was mostly spurred because, despite the fact that I had redesigned her slightly at one point, she slowly reverted back to her original design with every little tweek that I made.

Of course, it's not exact, but you get the idea. While the color the the hairstyle's a little different, they are pretty much the same, though. And while that's not rare for my characters, it is sort of funny to look at now.

Other than the art style I had back then, I actually don't mind the old Psyche (on right) too much. The thing I dislike about her is her bangs, which I was attempting a sort of weird Greek thing with. Otherwise, she's not bad. With my current style, her outfit's really cute. She gets Eros' arrow because...reasons. (Actually, the only time I drew her, she was holding both the arrow and the bow, but I decided on the arrow for her this time.)

The new Psyche is...well, new. I still love her design, even if her hair seems like too much is going on at times. It's okay, though. ;P I still love the casualness of her outfit, though, even if I feel like I'm drawing it too much now. Wait...no, there's no such thing. ;P I find it funny how much darker she is than the old version, thanks to both the fact that I gave her a proper skin tone, and gave her darker hair. She gets the bow, because the other one had the arrow. >.>

I actually didn't intend for them to be linked up like that, but when I stuck them together in the picture, it just...happened, and I liked it, so I kept it. Makes it look cuter, and more like they're supporting each other or something.

In the end, this is just yet another cute comparison picture. I might do one for Eros, but...not sure yet on that. ^^; For now, this'll have to do.

I think Ive said this a million times by now, but I love the contrasts here! Sure, they're subtle, mostly differences in what shades of colours you used (especially since you said you'd steadily been giving Psyche back old traits bit by bit), but it's still an interesting contrast. Old Psyche looks so pale compared to New Psyche. But then again, she doesn't really look as Greek as she was (unless she was supposed to be and this was just a matter of you-at-the-time not really using a Greek skin tone? I can't remember. >.<)

In terms of outfit, I prefer New Psyche. Sure, the button-down with pink shirt is cute, but you have to admit it still doesn't beat the stripes. >.> Not to mention I like the pink/white/black combo, since all of those colours go really well together (to me anyway). Not to mention new Psyche's hair is a little crazy, but definitely very cute! (I can kinda see what you were intending with the bangs on Old Psyche, and I do kinda like them. Not as much as what she has now, but I can see what you meant.) I do like how they accidentally wound up linking arms, since that's awesome. Really shows how ~*~united~*~ they are, or something like that.

(Though...gee, I know Eros wants to shoot Psyche with one of his arrows, but she's just going and taking all the fun out of it by putting her fingertip right beside the pointy arrowhead! Yeah, it'll work...but Eros won't actually get to shoot her that way. ;P)

But yeah, it's sweet to see the two of them compared like this, since it shows how far (or not so far) the character's come in terms of design. :D (I wouldn't mind an Eros version, even if there'd be less difference than Psyche. Because...come on, it's Eros. How can I say no to that? >.>) Love it!
