Birthday Girls Ryan and Charlie

Yep, it’s that time again; it’s hard to believe that it’s already been a year since I decided to be weird and do pictures for my main character’s birthdays. It started off as a crazy idea because, hey, I was about to write their birthday, and it was going to be the actual day on the actual year! And it just sort of went from there. Or at least it will when my other character’s birthdays come up. (If I remember, that is.) >.>

I was originally going to do the obvious one’s a vampire, one’s a werewolf thing, since that is the case. Hell, I’d do it just to be able to color the lines around Charlie’s eyes. But then I got to thinking about the fact that, last year, it really was their eighteenth birthday that day. Which means this year would be their nineteenth birthday. And Ryan just happened to be pregnant on her nineteenth birthday. And thus, this happened.

I’m really glad I figured out how to draw pregnant women, at least from three-quarters view. She doesn’t look half bad, if I do say so myself. In fact, this is the first time Ryan actually turned out cuter then Charlie. I say it’s the wavy hair that does it. See, Charlie, how much better it is to keep the wavy hair? (I also think I sort of squished Charlie’s face, but meh. It’s mostly the hair).

I also like the contrasts between them, with Ryan wearing the bright pink dress, and Charlie wearing the darker, blue-grey dress. Again, it suits the two of them, with Ryan actually being the more innocent one. Sure, she’s more fearless and daring, but in the grand scheme of things, she’s still clueless about a lot of things. Charlie, on the other hand, is a bit more experiences with the world at large. She can be just as fearless at times, but for the most part, she has perfectly normal reactions to things.

I thought it would be fun to actually redo the piece from last year rather than doing a new one. Last year’s was a rush job, since I decided to do something like the day before, and didn’t have as much time as I’d like to work on it. This year’s is much better (aside from Charlie’s squished face, of course. ).
