Description
Since it's been awhile since we did an art trade, I figured it was about time ~callisto-chan and I did another one. Plus, I had an idea for something for her to draw, and I wanted to get it guilt free (as in, she gets something in return). And since I had a general idea that was similar idea to what I wanted her to draw, it just seemed logical for me to suggest an art trade.
When I suggested we do minor couples (that is, you know, couples in the story that aren't the main character and her love interest), I knew immediately that I was going to do Carmen and Marcus. However, it was going to be tricky with them, seeing as they're not technically supposed to be together, at least not outside of Earth. (I'm so glad Christine questioned that, though, because I had been like ...yeah, so? myself when they brought it up.) So of course I couldn't put them in a typical couplely pose, because their love's supposed to be all secret and stuff.
Then I got the idea of them walked together holding each other's pinkies. You know, not quite holding hands? But I wasn't sure if I could pull off the look. Not only did I do just that, but it turned out adorable in the process.
They're trying to be subtle about it, but failing, although they're not outright beaming at each other or anything. Just grinning like mad because they're almost holding hands (ohmygodthescandal!)
Over all, I'm happy with how this turned out. I'm a little iffy about Carmen's hair, but I think I did good with the transition from her style to mine. Marcus' is a little easier.
I think this is the first time I really colored a darker person, and it's kinda interesting. He looks pretty good in earthy colors, though. And, for once, I think I did good with the heights.

Ha ha, when you suggested minor couples, I began thinking of how many I had (not many at all) and so I sort of guessed it would be either Carmen/Marcus or Ruth/Theo; I'm happy to see I was right!
They look cute together, of course (I hadn't realised there was that drastic a height difference, though it looks about right, now that I've double-checked the heights 
) I think you did very good with translating my style into yours (especially for Carmen's hair, as that's something I find tricky myself; Marcus' hair isn't that bad in comparison).
I like the funky plaid you out Carmen in (it's bright, but there's oh so many pretty colours!), not to mention she looks good in that teal shrug (I see her in pink myself, for some strange reason, but teal also looks good on her). Marcus does look good in warm tones, I agree (maybe it's because he's got that warm tone to his skin, I have no idea). I was going to say wait, you've drawn Marcus before, during his Guardians days...but that was a few years ago, and you've been drawing vampires for so long, I suppose it is a bit of an adjustment to colour someone with such colour. (I can understand what you mean, though; I'm generally used to colouring Caucasian people that it's a bit of an adjustment to colour someone like Marcus when I need to >.>)
I agree it turned out abso-frickin-lutely adorable, and I'm not sure how much more I could squee about it without repeating myself endlessly. (Ha, I will say I also like the idea of 'guilt-free' art...it's always great when you're not feeling guilty for requesting something
